About us

The Council on Chiropractic Education Australasia (CCEA) is an independent accrediting authority for chiropractic education under Australia’s National Registration and Accreditation Scheme and New Zealand’s Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003. In addition, the CCEA is the assessing authority for chiropractors seeking to migrate to Australia or New Zealand under their respective skilled migration programs.

Accreditation

CCEA is appointed by the Chiropractic Board of Australia and the New Zealand Chiropractic Board as the independent accrediting authority for chiropractic education. This function has been established under the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (Australia) and the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (New Zealand). The accreditation function includes:

  • assessing, accrediting and monitoring tertiary level chiropractic education programs across Australasia.

  • developing internationally recognised accreditation standards and processes.

  • building relationships with overseas agencies and organisations responsible for chiropractic accreditation.

Skills assessment

CCEA has been appointed by the Chiropractic Board of Australia and the New Zealand Chiropractic Board to carry out its function as an independent assessing authority for the chiropractic profession in Australia and New Zealand.

The skills assessment function involves conducting a skills assessment process for chiropractors trained outside of Australia and New Zealand. Successful completion of the skills assessment process enables chiropractors to apply for registration with their local regulatory authority.

Functions that do not apply to CCEA

The CCEA does not perform the following functions:

  • The professional registration of chiropractors.

  • Finding employment opportunities for chiropractors.

  • Providing access to continuing professional development and training.
