Skills assessment

The CCEA is the assessing authority for chiropractors seeking to migrate to Australia or New Zealand under their respective skilled migration programs. In addition, the CCEA is responsible for the skills assessment process for overseas chiropractors wishing to register in Australia or New Zealand.

Migration to Australia or New Zealand

In Australia and New Zealand, CCEA is the assessing authority for the General Skilled Migration programs for the occupation Chiropractor (ANZSCO 252111).

In accordance with the Migration Regulations 1994, CCEA has been specified by the Minister for Home Affairs as the gazetted assessing authority for the Department of Home Affairs. The Department of Education supports this process through its role in approving migration assessing authorities. Professional bodies that meet established criteria, including a commitment to support the objectives of the General Skilled Migration program and the provision of an appropriate assessment service to prospective migrants, have been granted such approval. The Skilled Occupations List on the Department of Home Affairs website links to the description of the occupation of Chiropractor defined by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

In New Zealand, CCEA is the designated assessing authority for Immigration New Zealand.

CCEA will send you an official Assessment Letter which must be included with your application to the Department of Home Affairs or Immigration New Zealand. Whilst it is the candidate’s responsibility to ascertain what documentation is required for their migration application, candidates are advised to retain all original documents.

Please note: successful completion of the CCEA qualification and skills assessment process does not guarantee you automatic migration, registration, employment or membership of a professional body in Australia or New Zealand. The Department of Home Affairs and Immigration New Zealand may have additional requirements for migration. Candidates are advised to contact the Department of Home Affairs, Immigration New Zealand or a registered migration agent to ascertain the necessary requirements.

Registration in Australia or New Zealand

In accordance with the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act 2009 (Australia) and the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (New Zealand), the CCEA is responsible for performing assessments of the knowledge, clinical skills and professional attributes of overseas qualified chiropractors seeking registration with the Chiropractic Board of Australia or the New Zealand Chiropractic Board.

CCEA will send you an official Assessment Letter and Certificate of Attainment which must be included with your application to the Chiropractic Board of Australia or New Zealand Chiropractic Board. Whilst it is the candidate’s responsibility to ascertain what documentation is required for their registration application, candidates are advised to retain all original documents.

When you are ready to apply, please submit your application form to CCEA electronically. The academic transcript and letter of good standing will need to be emailed directly to the CCEA Skills Assessment Team as per the instructions in the relevant application form.
